“I took this workshop to learn how to make more customized photo books. What I learned was SO much more! I didn’t realize how intensely I would be studying my own photography – from how I shoot to how I process them! I find myself being much more aware of my shooting, because now instead of sitting on my hard drive, my goal is for them to end up in a book! Now instead of trying to capture a moment with a snapshot, I think about the story I want to tell!”

Student Reviews

  • Debbie van der Schyff says:

[I] would definitely recommend the workshop (and already have). I am not new to Blurb books, I have already made 8 and cannot believe how many tips and valuable information I have learned from this course. This course has definitely elevated my books from being run-of-the-mill to having a thought-out and obvious design that is consistent and clean throughout the book. This is exactly what I hoped to achieve from this workshop and I wasn’t disappointed!

  • Jessica Thomason says:

Oh wow, I loved everything about [this workshop]! I loved the videos, the pdf’s were beautiful and detailed. Overall, I felt like Stacey’s accessibility was the best thing about it though! Everyone’s book design experience will be a little different so having her feedback throughout really helped me pull my specific book together!

  • Janet Farrell says:

Anyone who hasn’t had formal training on photo book design and is interested in having books for their family or business would profit from this class. We all know we should do something with all the digital images on our computer and often a photo book format will best communicate our story with options for photo arrangement and text additions. This workshop takes the guess work out and paves the path through the technological obstacles allowing the story to be told in the unique manner and style of the photographer and characters in the book.

  • This was a great workshop and one I recommend highly. Stacey has an amazing depth of knowledge on both how to make a photo book but also importantly the design considerations that turn an ok book into a great one. This workshop was the boost I needed to get those family photos of mine off of the computer and into books that could be shared with my family.

  • Jennifer Bantle says:

I just finished this workshop and am so grateful I decided to take it. I have made photo books before on shutterfly, but knew for my first 365 project I wanted something more professional looking. This class helped push me to be more thoughtful when creating my layouts. I am so grateful for the feedback I received. And now at the end I have a beautiful book! 🙂

  • Amy White says:

sometimes with video tutorials! Her class allowed me to see creative design options which helped my creative design process. Carmody Baker I love how it helped me have a better workflow. I’m not so frustrated and lost when it comes to blurb. It’s opened a lot of windows Hayden Bosworth I loved the examples that you shared. It helped give me ideas for what I wanted my book to look like. Also loved the book inspirations. Now I look for inspiration everywhere!!! Aarti Thapar Stacey’s flexibility, as well as the many useful book examples. Seeing a full, finished product was great in helping me visualize how I wanted my own completed projects to look. Parikha Mehta Money well spent! I would definitely recommend this class. I wasn’t sure about this class and contacted a couple of your prior students who I know through CM. They all said it was a great class and they were right! Thanks Stacey!

  • Rachel Potter says:

I love that I am shooting with a layout in mind. Now that I know how I like the layouts to look, it is a good motivator to vary my shooting angles and orientations! I also know what papers and covers I like best since actually ordering my book itself.

  • Megan Dill says:

With a little planning and organization, I can actually do this! The thought of creating a book seemed so daunting in the beginning. I am now equipped and inspired to (finally) print years worth of family photos. If I can do it, anyone can!

  • Julie Mak says:

I have become much more strategic and methodical about my approach to designing my photo books. As I became a better photographer, I started thinking much more about my shots before pressing the shutter, and similarly here, I am planning out my books ahead of time, making the execution much easier and the end result more successful, rather than my previous approach of just making a book on the fly

  • Chrissy Wichman says:

I would definitely recommend this workshop for someone who has never made books before or who is just intimidated by the process. The workshop walks you through the entire book making process in a slow and methodical manner. There is no excuse for not having a finished book at the end of this workshop, and I personally feel like there is an amazing sense of accomplishment when you turn the pages of your finished book and see all of your own pictures and memories in print.
